You should know

I prefer the word sedate. Eli did okay on the plane. He slept (with help) most of the first flight & the second flight was a little interesting since Eli had a bit of a stink & when I went to change him, one flight attendant got bit irritated since I had gotten up mere moments before the seatbelt light was off (she was already up & moving) & made me wait until she passed with the drink cart to even get to the bathroom (ever try changing a baby in those tiny bathrooms?) & then wouldn't let me back to my seat until the seatbelt light came back on & she was putting the drink carts away.
Eli has been so sweet to Caden, who is absolutely adorable. Eli keeps trying to comfort him by "shh"-ing when Caden's fussing, bringing Caden toys, sticking his face right up to Caden to whisper "hi" at him & patting him all nice.
Pretty neat storm here last night. Lots of lightening & thunder & trains.

Hmmmm...

So, Anna, when you say "medicate," is that really just a nice way of saying you're going to drug your kid? And when the stewardess comes over to say, "Wow, he's sooooo well behaved. He hasn't made a fuss the whole flight," who gets the credit?

Speaking of being on drugs, Gus is doing better. The scar on his belly looks like a ten inch baseball stitch, and he has to take quite the assortment of pills twice a day. He's still pretty darn skinny, but at least his poops are getting better even though he's having a little trouble getting them out because it's probably still pretty painful for him to drop bombs.

Wow. Life at my house...

Isn't Abby so cute? She tries so hard to pronounce her words correctly & sometimes just doesn't quite get it.
Tomorrow Eli & I are leaving on the plane. I have no idea what I was thinking when I made the reservations to leave so dang early in the AM & now the SEA/DFW & DFW/OKC are really full, so Eli might have to actually sit on my lap for all 3 hours 48 minutes & 56 minutes of airtime. I do plan to medicate him so maybe he'll just sleep. In my arms. The whole time.

Gus'll be fine...

Turns out Gus had a couple of tumors. One they found on his spleen grew to the size of a tennis ball, and made his spleen triple in size. So they took his spleen and the attached tumor out, and then when they were cutting off his testicles, they found another tumor. They are going to do a biopsy on the tumor they found on his testicle to find out more about it. The one they found on his now absent spleen apparently didn't warrant more concern once removed. They'll call me later to give me more news about whether or not I get to pick him up today or something, but, right now, that's all I know.
Gus is bad sick

He's one baaaaaad--Shut yo' mouth!!!

Ever since Gus killed a rabbit, he has this idea that he is extra cool. He spends the whole walk with his chest puffed out and chasing anything that happens to cross his path, including birds, which never interested him before, but now that he is the toughest guy on the block, they'd better get out of the road. Even Riley is of no interest to Gus now that he has more important things to worry about on our walks, like sniffing out small animals. Frankly, I had not expected the whole incident to go to his head the way it has...

How many rabbits does it take to fill Josh up?

We'll never know...didn't you loose weight during survival training? Maybe you Cadets needed a big brown dog to show you how to catch a rabbit.

Rabbits

When Hans & I started dating, his family had a pet rabbit named "Dinner." When they gave him away to another family, Bjorn was so worried they would take the rabbit's name literally.

I didn't eat the rabbit...

but Gus tried to eat what was left of it this morning.

Lucy probably messed with Gus's head

She harassed him while he was here, by Sunday he was getting pretty nervous, her being the boss of the house and all.

Sent your glasses...hmmm he was so smug.

Don't have words for that DVD about being 50...I keep watching it, I want to go back there, it went by too fast, you were all so cute, every one of you so different with your own combination of lovable "stuff". You're the greatest kids and in-law kids and kid's-kids any mom could ever hope for. I'm happy to get to belong to such an awesome family.

Say you didn't eat the rabbit.

Spectacles...

So last night I watched the end of Super Bowl XXXIX (it looks so fancy when you type it in numerals) with M & P, and then I drove away without my glasses after having a full discussion on how I remembered to grab all my things. It might seem funny that I forgot my glasses, but lets think about how someone comes to find that they've forgotten their glasses. Well, I use this contact solution that says it's supposed to get rid of protein deposits or some dang thing, and if I try to put my contacts back on prior to them soaking for four hours after I put them into this solution, my eyes sting real badly. So last night I took off my contacts and went to put on my glasses. My glasses weren't there, and I ended up searching my room and car for glasses that I couldn't be sure weren't there until after I looked without any corrective lens help for at least an hour.

On another note... This morning, as I walked Gus & Riley through the abandoned tree farm accross the street from my house, Gus suprised me. We were walking along all bunched up when he tore after something on the side of the trail. He went behind a group of trees that I couldn't see through, and when he came back around, I saw he was chasing what looked like a cat. Right as I thought to myself, "Boy, that looks like a cat," Gus picked it up in his mouth, shook it, and clamped his jaw twice shrarply. "Boy, hope that wasn't a cat," I thought to myself, and Gus ran back to me. I told him to drop it, and turns out the dog I've started to call "Old Man" still has the spunk to catch a rabbit when he feels like it.

Josh soloed!!

Yesterday was a big day here... Josh had his first solo flight. I got to watch the whole thing. He first goes up with his instructor and then they come back out and his instructor gets out and he goes up and flies above the base and does a few touch and goes. Then when he lands his classmates are waiting for him and if he makes it back to their flight room without getting caught then everyone in his flight has to buy him a case of beer. Usually no one ever makes it back, but Josh did because a lot of his class was flying at the time and because he is the biggest guy in the class and guys who are shorter and smaller than me couldn't do much damage. So he made it back without getting thrown into the water trough, but then they still threw him in later when we were all standing outside. That was pretty funny. A couple bigger guys caught him off guard as we were all talking and threw him in. The only rule is it has to be at least 40 degrees outside to throw someone in. Josh said earlier in the morning it still had ice on it. So it was pretty cold. I'm going to try to attach some photos if I can figure this thing out.

Music...

So if you didn't get the Queen you wanted, let me know and I can put it back up. In the meantime, though, I have swtiched the Queen out for Gillian Welch's newest album. If you want to hear some of it, just go to http://oregonstate.edu/~mesdaga/music/.

I WISH I already knew if she was pregnant

She's happier and hungrier but that's probably got a lot to do with her 2 week depression while she was wearing "panties". If she's pregnant she'll have them April 2nd.

That ONE cd

Hans made a single CD for the Subaru of 150 mp3 songs from the computer. Mostly DMB, Jack Johnson & Buffett. No female voices. We've driven to Oregon & back & listened that CD too many times, not that we've heard the thing all the way through since Hans only puts in on random. That way we get a couple of Coldplay songs in the mix. A CD I made would be a dream....but then Hans might go nuts.

You know, I was planning to agree with Robyn

& then I saw Hans's post. I'm so tired of DMB. Hans has listened to it to death. Same with Jack Johnson. Variety never hurt anyone. Maybe adding some female voices would be good. Especially to the one CD we have in the car for long car trips (like driving to Oregon).

about that dave matthews

hey..I'm here to vouch for Lucas getting some new tunes...I saw the look on Robyn's face after he put Dave Matthews on for Caden to hear. Maybe it had something to do with no sleep but when she said she was sick of DMB, I believed her. Not that Alec doesn't come and change the CD's for me twice a year when I'm not sick of the music yet. How many CD's have that cirle song on it anyway?

Alec, yes...they did the deed, puppies on april 2nd.

Queen...

For Lucas and anyone besides him who wants to, you can download some Queen at http://oregonstate.edu/~mesdaga/Queen/ .

Enjoy!
